From the stage, Kristian Bush told the crowd and fans at home: “Thanks to Gale Gelman, Helen Rollins, Luke Lewis and everybody at Mercury Records. This is the first award that we’ve ever won ever. How exciting to represent everybody in country music.”
Member Jennifer Nettles added: “It means nothing without all you at home; thank you, fans, especially thank you, fans!”
The much-loved Eddie’s Attic vets seemed genuinely shocked by the award.
According to Sugarland’s Web site, the band’s third member, Kristen Hall, didn’t make the Left Coast ceremonies Tuesday, opting to stay home because “she wasn’t feeling well.”
Meanwhile, the band’s single “Baby Girl” is up for country radio song of the year at this year’s Radio Music Awards due to be televised Dec. 19 on NBC.
And needless to say, a few Grammy nominations could also be in the offing this winter.
Other winners at the AMAs: Kelly Clarkson, Tim McGraw, the Black Eyed Peas, Destiny’s Child, Green Day and Mariah Carey.
99X/Q100 traffic reporter Crash Clark, just a few months removed from divorcing his first wife (known to radio listeners as “Lady Crash”), has gotten engaged to a lady nicknamed Snugs on-air. The marriage was set for April 8, less than a year after they first met and fell in love.
“Although the entire gang thinks I’m on a vicious rebound,” he noted in an e-mail, “she’s the love of my life.”
This past weekend, Clark created a romantic scene in the bathroom with roses, a fog machine, and a fake moon, then dropped to one knee to propose to Melissa. (He won’t reveal her last name because she’s a “private person.”)
“Just like Jimmy Stewart in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ I gave her the moon,” he told Buzz.
While the folks at Q100 loved the story, Clark admitted that the 99X guys “passed around barf bags.”
And baby makes? publicity
“Toxic” pop tart (that just doesn’t ever get old, does it?) Britney Spears has given the world its first official glimpse of her baby boy.
The singer appears with infant Sean Preston and budding rapper husband Kevin “K-Fed” Federline on the cover of the latest issue of People magazine, on newsstands today.
The headline proclaims: “Baby LOVE!”
Spears says she’s “ecstatic” about being a mom and most enjoys “taking an afternoon nap in bed” with her 9-week-old son.
Photos of Spears, Federline and their baby were published online last month but were taken down within hours after Spears’ record label, Jive Records, issued a statement threatening legal action.
The photos were allegedly stolen from a private photo session. The photos in People magazine are from that shoot, making them over a month old.
Sean Preston is the first child for Spears, 24. Federline, 27, has two children with ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson.
Spears is reportedly interested in starring in the Broadway musical “Sweet Charity,” but neither Spears nor the show’s producers have confirmed they are in talks.sugarland
