Questing

Quests are treasure hunts to learn more about your towns and the natural world around them. You become an explorer and a treasure hunter! Observation skills, riddle solutions, and good "place-based" fun lead to a treasure stash - a box with a special stamp and stamp pad, a message book, and pen. Bring your own passport, special recording notebook and/or stamps to record your hike!

Remember sunscreen and insect repellent! A compass may be handy, along with water bottles and snacks.

Try one or more of our quests and let us know what you thought!

We look forward to hearing from you!

Patterns of Great Hill -- Search for treasure boxes as you learn about the trees and plants of the Great Hill Conservation land. Find the "Old Indian Grinding Stone" and the summit of Great Hill! Begin at the parking lot behind the School Street fire station, Acton, MA. Walk across the fields to the map kiosk in the back at the tree line to begin your quest! The "short quest" to the "Old Indian Grinding Stone" will take approximately 50 minutes. The "long quest", which includes both the grinding stone and the summit of Great Hill, will take approximately 1 hr. and 30 min.

Frog Fiesta -- Search for "froggy" clues on this quest hike perfect for younger children and their families! Start at the lower parking lot of the Science Discovery Museum, 177 Main St., Acton, MA and look for the waist-high posts and yellow arrow that signal the beginning of the trail on the Great Hill Conservation Land.

Look for the frog pictures to lead you on your walk.
